History Bites:
Settlemier House & Woodburn History
Learn about one of the Willamette Valley’s notable historic homes during History Bites at the Albany Regional Museum from 1 to 2 p.m. on January 14. Cindy Thomas of the Settlemier House will share stories about the home’s namesake and explore the rich history of Woodburn and its early development. Admission to History Bites is free. Regular museum admission rates apply for exhibit access.
Two Pet-Friendly Events
Sniffany's Pet Boutique hosts two events this January. On January 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., New Year, New Me brings together local pet care providers to help you connect with groomers, trainers, and more. Then on January 17 from 5 to 7 p.m., Pup Paint Night lets your dog create a colorful masterpiece while enjoying a treat.
Winter Rod & Speed Show
The Winter Rod & Speed Show rolls into the Linn County Expo Center with more than 100 custom vehicles, from hot rods and muscle cars to low riders and race cars. Enjoy live music on January 16 and bring a food donation to support local charities. Admission is $10. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. on January 16 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 17.
Oregon Mid-Winter Square Dance Festival
The Oregon Mid-Winter Square Dance Festival nviting dancers to embrace the fun and flair of the 1950s and 60s from January 23 to 25. The weekend features square dancing, round dancing, and clogging at the Linn County Expo Center. With opportunities to dance, shop, and connect with fellow enthusiasts, the festival offers a vibrant, welcoming experience for all.
Sidewalk Sleuthing
Explore the charm of downtown Albany with Downtown Discovery: A Scavenger Hunt for All Ages on Saturday, January 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Start at the Carnegie Library (302 Ferry St. SW) and search for 20 unique architectural details using photo clues provided. End at the Albany Regional Museum (136 Lyon St. SW) for prizes, cookies, and hot cider. Free and fun for all ages — maps and clues supplied.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Albany Civic Theater presents Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a gripping adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale by Richard Abbott. This dramatic production follows the unsettling journey of Henry Jekyll as his experiments with mysterious powders and tinctures unleash the sinister Edward Hyde. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on January 23, 24, 30, and 31, as well as February 6 and 7. Matinee shows begin at 2:30 p.m. on January 25 and February 1. Admission is $18.
