Fall is a beautiful time to get out and about in the mid-valley to experience the last bits of sunny weather, check out the blaze of fall colors, and enjoy a little adventure touring historic covered bridges just a short drive (or bike ride!) from Albany.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast of biscuits and gravy, a stuffed omelet or many other delicious selections at Brick & Mortar Café and get a coffee to go before you head out the door. For something lighter, hit Margin Coffee Co. for coffee and tasty pastry.

If you are planning to visit more than a few of the bridges, you might consider getting your lunch to-go from Bodhi Artisan Bakery. This small establishment is big on flavor, with a wide selection of pastries and a lunch menu that includes soups, salads and deli sandwiches to-go. Bodhi also offers take-out breakfast if you’re looking for one-stop shopping.

Linn County is home to eight beautiful covered bridges, five of which can be explored on a scenic loop near the town of Scio—just a 30-minute drive from Albany. You can find a map on our website, pick one up at our office, or download the Albany Explorer App for an interactive guide to help you navigate the route.
