Featured Artists: Karen Miller and Dennis Johanson

Gallery Calapooia will host a featured artist reception highlighting the work of local artists Karen Miller and Dennis Johanson.

Karen Miller creates intricate textile art using the traditional Japanese technique of katazome, blending natural indigo dye, hand-cut mulberry stencils, and Pacific Northwest-inspired designs. Her work draws on her background as a marine biologist and often features delicate images of native plants and sea life.

Dennis Johanson is a ceramic artist known for his wheel-thrown porcelain and stoneware pieces, many of which are finished with glazes he developed over decades. A longtime instructor and kiln master at Oregon State University, Dennis continues to create and fire work in his home studio.

Guests are invited to meet the artists and enjoy an evening of fine art, conversation, and light refreshments in the heart of downtown Albany.
