Read Across America Birthday Celebration for Dr. Seuss takes place 11 am-3 pm on March 2, 2025, at the Historic Carousel & Museum in Albany. Hosted by Altrusa International of Albany, this free event offers games, crafts, and a scavenger hunt. Kids can take home a new book while supplies last. Celebrate the joy of reading and support Altrusa’s mission of promoting literacy in the community. Carousel rides and snacks will be available for purchase. In “Ride the Cyclone” at Albany Civic Theater, six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir meet an unexpected end in a roller coaster accident. They awaken in limbo, where a mechanical fortune teller invites them to participate in a high-stakes game of life and death. Albany Civic Theater, located at 111 First Ave W, presents performances on March 1, 2 (matinee), 6, 7, 8, 9 (matinee), 14, and 15. Evening performances start at 7:30 pm and matinees start at 2:30 pm. The Northwest Fly Tyer & Fly Fishing Expo returns to the Linn County Expo Center 9-5 pm on March 7 and 8. This event brings together anglers, industry suppliers, conservation groups, and enthusiasts for a weekend of networking, education, and hands-on experiences. Attendees can explore fly tying, casting demonstrations, youth activities, and conservation education, all designed to support and grow Oregon’s fly-fishing community. Winter Wildlife Field Days returns March 1-31, 2025, with events at various locations across Albany, Corvallis, and Salem. On Wednesday, March 12, a Field Station will be set up at Sunrise Park in Albany from 1:30-4 pm, near the playground off SE Thurston Street. The Field Stations are free, family-friendly events offering hands-on activities, nature walks, live critter displays, and interactive science stations, all focused on this year’s theme: "Habitat is Home." Activities are bilingual in English and Spanish, and visitors can drop by at any time. Additional presentations and field trips will take place throughout the month. Sick Town Roller Derby is bringing high-energy competition to the Linn County Expo Center on March 15, with a double-header bout. Doors open at 3 pm, with the first game starting at 4 pm and the second at 6:30 pm. Fans can catch all the action for $15 per ticket at SickTownRollerDerby.com.
Mixology Madness is set to take place 4-7 pm on March 16, at Flinn Block Hall, bringing Albany’s top bartenders together for a cocktail competition. Attendees have the chance to sample creative cocktails, vote for their favorite, and enjoy delicious food from downtown restaurants. At 5 pm, winners will be announced, and bartenders will serve full-sized versions of their signature cocktails. Northwest Horse Fair and Expo takes place March 21-23 at the Linn County Expo Center. This annual event offers three days of education, entertainment, and shopping for horse owners and enthusiasts of all experience levels. The Linn County Flea Market takes place on March 29, at the Linn County Expo Center in the Santiam Building. As the county’s largest indoor flea market, the event will feature 85 vendors selling antiques, collectibles, vintage goods, and unique finds. Early shoppers can enter from 8-9 am for $10 (cash only), while regular admission runs from 9 am-2:30 pm for $5 (cash only).
