From Chili to Chocolate: Albany’s February Highlights

Love is in the air—and so is the scent of fresh crab, chocolate, and chili! February brings an exciting lineup of events in Albany, from an intriguing museum exhibit to live theater and community festivals. Here’s what’s happening around town.

Celebrate friendship with a Galentine's getaway in Albany! Enjoy cozy cafes, unique shopping, and local adventures. 

Strange lights in the sky, terrifying monsters, and unsolved crimes—investigate some of the region’s most fascinating mysteries at the Albany Regional Museum’s latest exhibition, Albany X-Files. Doors open February 1 at 10 am. The exhibit runs through June 28, 2025. The museum is located at 136 Lyon St. SW and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. Think your chili is the best? Prove it at the Deluxe Brewing Chili Cook-Off on February 1 from 1 to 4 pm. Participants should bring at least one gallon of their best-prepared chili, ready to serve to approximately 150 people. Tasting cups and spoons will be provided. A crock pot or warming device is required to keep the chili hot. Bring your own serving utensil. Entry is a non-perishable food donation. Deluxe Brewing is located at 635 Water Ave NE. 1st Friday Downtown The Chocolate Walk returns to Historic Downtown Albany on February 7. Pick up some sweet treats and take advantage of special sales for Valentine’s Day. The Greater Albany Rotary Club hosts its annual Crab Fest at Calapooia Brewing on Saturday, February 8, from noon to 7 pm. Enjoy live music from Bush Pilots, German Band, and Southern Crossing while feasting on fresh crab and pulled pork, or a vegetarian option. Enjoy The Depot's famous clam chowder, fresh salad, rolls, and cookies. Soft drinks and coffee are complimentary, while wine, beer, and cocktails are available for purchase from Calapooia.". History Bites at the Albany Regional Museum On February 12, from 12 pm to 1 pm, Dan Murphy will present the history of Albany’s mayors as part of the Albany Regional Museum’s History Bites series. Gain insights into the leadership that has shaped the city over the years. Admission is free, though exhibit viewing requires a fee. Light refreshments will be served. “Ride the Cyclone” at Albany Civic Theater In this highly original story, six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir meet an unexpected end in a roller coaster accident. They awaken in limbo, where a mechanical fortune teller invites them to participate in a high-stakes game of life and death. Albany Civic Theater, located at 111 First Ave W, presents performances on February 21, 22, 27, 28, March 1, 2 (matinee), 6, 7, 8, 9 (matinee), 14, and 15.
