73rd Annual Linn County Oregon Veteran’s Day Parade
Traditionally, the parade in Albany, Oregon has been the largest Veterans Day Parade west of the Mississippi and the third largest in the USA.
Albany, Oregon has celebrated Armistice/Veterans Day since 1919. World War I ended on November 11, 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. Thus, the first celebration of the end of “the war to end all wars” was November 11, 1919.
This year the parade will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, in Downtown Albany.
You’ll want to line up early along the parade route. The parade starts on Pacific Boulevard and comes down the overpass to Downtown Albany on Lyon Street, then turns left onto Second Avenue, journeys to Ferry Street, where it turns left again and heads to the Linn County Courthouse.
What makes this parade unique here in the Northwest and around the country? The sheer magnitude of veterans in the parade, the number of individual entries, the number of people, cars, floats, bands and military vehicles are the heart and soul of the parade.
